Batista becomes Leader

The government became very corrupt under his control
He was later overthrown by Fidel Castro
1961:
Bay of Pigs
invasion led by Cuban exiles
invasion failed within a matter of days
created distrust amongst the Americans and Cubans
1961-1962:
The Cuban Missle Crisis
a result of the failed Bay of Pigs invasion
Soviet leader Krushchev placed 42 missile sites in Cuba
U.S. had an invasion ready for Cuba
Soviets removed the missiles so the U.S. would retreat
1962:
America Blockades Cuba
nothing, people nor products and goods were allowed to enter or leave Cuba
used to make sure missiles are removed and that more were not placed
Oct. 1962:
